Dear Community Member,
Positive Community Connections extends our sincere appreciation for your support of our organization and its mission of true self-determination for individuals with developmental challenges as they strive for independence without isolation. We invite all members of the community to participate in the nomination process for the 2021 Mary Margaret SPIRIT Award to be honored at our Annual Family Dinner Dance Celebration at the Milleridge Cottage Inn in Jericho, New York on the evening of Thursday, November 11, 2021.
The Mary Margaret SPIRIT Award recognizes individuals who are either self-advocates or advocates for the rights of other self-determined individuals. Some past award recipients have been Mary Margaret Quinn; Darlene Magito McLaughlin, Ph.D., BCBA, PBS Community Foundation Self-Advocate Board Member Shawn Nitz, Brittany Schiavone, Katherine Giunta, Julia McCarthy, and Kyle Wrigley.
A nomination form is attached (as a PDF). In order to be considered, nominations for the Mary Margaret SPIRIT Award must be received by Positive Community Connections on or before August 31, 2021. Honoree biographies along with a description of their contribution to the vision of independence without isolation will be included in public relations materials and press releases. Honorees will be invited to attend the Family Dinner Dance at the Milleridge Cottage Inn in Jericho, New York, and will receive two complimentary tickets.
