PCC reached new heights at our Fire Island-Robert Moses Lighthouse Meetup. It was nothing but blue skies and endless sea and sunshine.  Members learned about the history of the lighthouse and were also given the opportunity to climb all the way up to the pinnacle.  It was one of the coolest things we've done together!

Wow, we sure had gotten "schooled' at the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery last week!! We learned about so many different types of fish, turtles and other amphibians. The Fish Hatchery gave us a wonderful tour of the premises and taught us so much. We were even given the chance to feed some fish!! Members had so much fun!

On Thursday, May 2nd, PCC and friends gathered at Old Westbury’s Student Union Rec Room for game night! Thanks to Dr. Sanja of the NYS Regional Center for Autism at Old Westbury, we were given the opportunity to spend some time on the campus, where we played games such as ping pong, foosball, pool, and various board games. There were delicious pizzas and snacks. We even had a Kahoot trivia game contest. Three different people won a Panera gift card for coming in first place!

PCC is so lucky to have friends that are willing to help us out when we need a helping hand. While Glee Leader Camille was out on maternity leave, Anita, Anna & Katherine stepped up to the plate and were our substitute Big Time Glee leaders.

To celebrate and support Autism Awareness Month, Positive Community Connections supported our neurodivergent community by attending the Unity Through Diversity event at the Madison Theater at Molloy College. This event was presented by The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy at Molloy University. Our PCC members in attendance first enjoyed a reception, listening to live jazz, mingling, socializing, and viewing some artwork displayed in the lobby area.

PCC members were given the opportunity to visit The Studio, at The Sachem Public Library to learn about some one-of-a-kind technology. Members learned about 3-D Printing, Sound Mixing and so much more.  They were also given the opportunity for some first hand experience using some of this technology, creating a laser engraving, which was a very special group project. Together we created not only a memorable piece of work, but also some pretty special memories in doing so.

PCC Members had met for lunch at the Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet in North Babylon. There was so much to choose from! From delicious sushi to classic Chinese food fare, the options were endless. Everything we tasted was finger-licking good. What is better than sharing a fantastic meal with friends?

Members of Nassau Voice had started off their spring by making spring baskets for children in the pediatric ward at South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside, NY. Each basket included handmade flowers and activities that are sure to brighten up the faces of each child who will be receiving them. We are so proud of the hard work and thoughtfulness that went into these baskets. Way to go Nassau Voice!

What can we say? We had another SUCCESSFUL Speed Friending Meetup!!!!! We had such a great time getting to know new people. Participants learned about their peers' favorite hobbies and shared some laughs. We wanted to give a BIG PCC THANK YOU to our friends at the Barry and Florence JCC in Oceanside for co-hosting this event at your space. We can't wait to work with you in the near future. And to Positive Behavior Academy for creating such a way to meet new people.
