Recently, Positive Community Connections was invited to the NY Islanders Hockey With A Heart Networking event at UBS Arena, in Elmont, NY. Chair of the Board of Directors for PCC, John Innis and Nassau County Community Connector, Marisa Ludwikowski were given the opportunity to learn about the philanthropic work of the NY Islanders and how they take pride in getting involved with the surrounding community. One of the biggest ways is through their Hockey With A Heart program (fingers crossed we get picked next season!) We also had the opportunity to network with a number of nonprofits with similar missions and values. One of the many highlights of the evening was being able to listen to John Ledecky, co-owner of the NY Islanders, and hockey legend Bryan Trottier speak about how the organization wants to help and why it is so important to them to give nonprofits opportunities to fundraise and raise awareness. PCC left the event excited about the possible working relationships that we will create in the near future. It was a wonderful evening of community and connection.
