If you checked the weather forecast for July 1st, you probably expected to melt! It was a record-breaking scorcher, but the PCC crew stayed cool under the lush, leafy shade of the Maple Pavilion at Belmont Lake Park in Babylon. With our own private patch of park, charcoal grills, picnic tables, and a cool indoor building to duck into, we had the perfect setup. Since the 4th of July was just around the corner, we added some patriotic decor, while a great playlist of summertime hits kept the good vibes going all day long.
The food was classic backyard comfort: juicy hot dogs, cheeseburgers stacked with all the toppings, chips, macaroni salad, refreshing watermelon, and a delicious chocolate cake. After eating, we kept the fun going with yard games like cornhole, hula hooping, and even a quick, funny round of granny pants. To top it all off, we had a very special visit from Mario himself! He dropped by to hang out, strike some iconic poses, and take photos with everyone.
An event this special couldn't happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes. A huge thank you to Marisa, Sharin, and Dan for organizing every detail, and to Tom and Mr. Froliech for manning the grills like pros. We also owe a big round of applause to Janet, Erica, Cheryle, Ian, Amanda, Billy, Lisa, and Justin for volunteering and setting everything up so seamlessly. You all are truly amazing!
Beyond the food, games, and photo-ops, the absolute best part of the day was simply being together. To all of our PCC members—whether you were there under the trees with us or sending love from afar—thank you. Our members are our heart, and PCC wouldn't be who we are without you!
