As the waves rage against the shore, a light will guide us to the safety of home. Join us as we learn the history of one of Long Island's most beautiful beacons of light! The Fire Island Lighthouse!
WHEN: Wednesday, May 22nd, 12:30-2:30pm
Timeline of the Day:
12:30: Meet in Field 5 parking lot closest to the entrance of the boardwalk for the light house.
12:40: Begin our 3/4th mile walk, on board walk, to the light house.
1PM: Guided tour of lighthouse & tower (1-1.5hours depending on group size, ability and interest)
2:30: Meetup is over, but you are welcome to find a location near lighthouse or on the beach to explore and/or picnic.
WHERE: Robert Moses State Park Field 5
-No parking fees
-Parking Field 5 is large. Try to park as close to the boardwalk entrance positioned towards the lighthouse as possible.
COST: $5 per person
-Fee will be collected by Sharin when you arrive and check in. Cash only and exact change please!!
-Staff must pay. Receipt available via email upon request.

-The light house tower itself is not fully accessible for people with mobility issues. There are a lot of stairs and it is a small space. It is not recommended that you climb the tower if you have a fear of heights or enclosed spaces.
-The lighthouse is built along the beach line. We will be walking about 3/4th of a mile on a wooden boardwalk to enter an exit the light house. There is a mix of flooring and sand throughout.
-We suggest that you pack light since this meetup requires a fair amount of walking. Bring water, wear comfy cloths and footwear. Be aware that all food and garage must return with you.
-Its suggested you use sunblock and bug spray.
